The St. Anne Music Ministry will present our third performance of the musical cantata "Shadows - a Service of Tenebrae" on Palm Sunday, April 5th at 7:00 pm.
Tenebrae, the latin word for "Shadows" or "Darkness," was a prayer service focused on seven episodes in the Passion and Death of Our Lord, Jesus Christ. After each psalm and choral meditation, a candle will be extinguished until only one, representing Christ, remains lit. This candle will then be extinguished also, figuratively signifying the spiritual void, confusion and grief that filled the minds and spirits of Christ's followers during His suffering, and the darkness that covered the entire world at His death on the cross! What an incredible way to prepare ourselves for the beauty and wonder of Holy Week.
The Tenebrae service will be presented with a full orchestra, plus a prelude by the Bellringers of St. Anne.
