This year the first day of Lent comes after Tuesday February 20th 2007 also known as Fat Tuesday, Shrove Tuesday or Mardi Gras, the last day of the Carnival season. The word "Carnival" is in fact derived from Latin carne vale: "farewell, meat".
All are welcome to this year's liturgical season of penance starting after Carnivale (and remember which means -> no meat on observance days for the next 46 days)
