"The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few. Therefore, beseech the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into His harvest."
With those words Jesus, as quoted in Luke's Gospel, charges us to continue His work and become His ministers in our church, our neighborhood, and our community. On Wednesday, April 14th, St. John the Baptist Church will conduct a class for those wishing to answer Jesus' call and become Extraordinary Eucharistic Ministers.
Eucharistic Ministers answer Jesus' call y distributing the Holy Eucharist not only at Mass but also to the sick and homebound. Your ministry can be every week or just once a month. After all, you come to Mass anyway, so why not answer the appeal that Jesus made two thousand years ago! As Jesus said in John's Gospel, "I am the bread of life; he who comes to me will not hunger." This is your chance to bring Jesus to others!
Class will start at 7:00 pm and will be held in the Assembly Room of the church. The evening will feature a presentation by Sister Ellen Dabrio. Sister Ellen is the supervisor of Eucharistic Ministers at the North Shore Medical Center and has served the North Shore in many other capacities. Afrer Sister Ellen's presentation, participants will receive instruction in the recently updated guidelines for Eucharistic Ministers.
There is no cost to participate, but in order to have enough materials we ask that you pre-register for the class. Participants must pre-register no later than noon on April 14th, by calling the rectory at (978) 744-1278 or sending an email to
