Sainte Anne

Alleluia!  Since my last letter regarding the roof in March, we have raised an additional $21,000. including $1,500 donated by the Youth Group from the Pasta Dinner; bringing the total to $76,451.32, $14,000 short of our $90,000 Goal for Phase I.  The members of the Roof Committee decided to send out requests for bids.  Patty and Dennis Levasseur prepared and mailed the Specification and Bid forms to five roofing contractors.  Four bids were submitted.  At a recent meeting of the Roof Committee, the bids were carefully reviewed and the bid was awarded to O’Keefe Brothers of Salem.   Work should begin in a few weeks, if not sooner!  Dennis Levasseur will perform the duty of Clerk of the Works during the project and in his absence; a representative from Roger A. Tremblay Contractors has volunteered to oversee the work on our behalf.   Many thanks!

The roof is only the beginning of the work to be completed in Phase I of our rejuvenation project!    We are awaiting the estimate for replacing the trim and the wooden clapboard on the church that is peeling, with Azec siding, made from PVC with proven success in durability and designed to withstand outdoor elements and will not require painting.  Our goal is to replace these items with products that are durable and require low maintenance.   However, this can only be accomplished if we raise sufficient funds in anticipation of covering the estimate. We must continue to be diligent in our efforts to raise the monies needed to accomplish this project. 

In a very generous effort to help us raise the much needed funds, Pat and Alma Pelletier have offered to MATCH the monthly Roof & Maintenance collection scheduled for June 19th & 20th  up to $10,000.00 in honor of their beloved grandparents, who helped  build the original Ste. Anne's Church, and their parents, Joseph Adelard and Anne A. Pelletier.  This is a perfect opportunity to acknowledge their generosity by making  your contribution this coming weekend and for the remainder of June as generous as possible.

Remember, we have many other repair projects to undertake in the near future on the rectory and the school/Parish Center.

Please know that any and all donation amounts will be graciously welcomed and appreciated.  Remember that donations can be made through the website, but only those made on June 19th and 20th will be matched.  Check the website for progress at www.stannesalem.com.

I know it will obviously require great sacrifice on everyone’s part…!  Please take a few moments to give serious thought to what you can afford, remembering that those before us who raised monies to rebuild our church, did so with great love in the hope that future generations (like us) would benefit through their sacrifice.
